M4p-mp3 or wma conversion?

I downloaded something from iTunes, and it was in m4p (not mp4) format. The problem was that I don't own an iPod, so it can't read m4p. I downloaded several free converters, but the only free one with no time limit only works for m4a files. Is there any way that I can have iTunes download in m4a format or mp3?
