Hey Jetta Owners!?

I'm looking for a dependable, highway safe vehicle. I just looked at a Jetta that is 1998 model, 5-speed, with 115,000 miles. Obviously it is the mileage that is scaring me off a bit. The price is right under $4000. Is the car worth that (I know how to use Kelly blue book, I want past owner opinions, please!)? Do you feel I will get my money's worth out of it, that it will be dependable for work and for vacation trips, based on your experiences with your Jetta? Thanks!
