Help on avatar: into the inferno...the boiling rock?

There is a fan between me and the door and I can't get past the fan so I can melt the door with fire. How do you turn it off? Sokka and I just got done beating up all those guys and I banged on the gongs to get the scoll gallary thing. HELP PLEASE!!!!
